Announcing AgoForward, the permanent forwarding Email address.

The Agonian Alumnae Association has decided to give all of the sisters in good standing their own personalized email address (yourname@agonian-kappa.org).  Here is how it works:

1. You submit the form included on this web site (it asks for your first and last name, the year you graduated, your current email address (which is necessary) and if you are in good standing).

2. Your name will be checked against a database of Sorority Sisters. If you are not in the database or are not in good standing (dues paid up-to-date), then an email will be sent to you to notify you of the situation.

3. Once your information has been confirmed, your account will be setup by our web-design company.  The first initial of your first name and your complete last name will be used as your new email address (Mr. Ronald McDonald would be rmcdonald@agonian-kappa.org).  All letters will be lower case and all apostrophes, dashes, etc. will be replaced with an underscore (Joan O'Brien would be jo_brien@agonian-kappa.org, Joan Smith-Ross would be jsmith_ross@agonian-kappa.org).  This is usually set up within a couple of days from confirming your status.  Depending on workload, it could take up to a week or two.

4. A welcome email will be sent to your new address to confirm that it is working. If you do not get a welcome email within two weeks of signing up, please contact webmaster@agonian-kappa.org. There may have been a misspelling or the form you submitted may have not been received.

5. Once the welcome email has been received by you, the address is ready to be used.  Give this email to all your friends and let them know that this email will be a permanent one. You can change the return address in your existing email program or add a "New" personality using this new email address and the other settings for your original email address.  Refer to the users manual or on-line help screens that come with your email program.  NOTE:  AOL users can not change their return address in the standard email program.

6. Once friends start using this new email address, all of their messages will be forwarded to your existing email address. For example: if you have an account with AOL (jsmith@aol.com) and someone sends something to your AgoForward account (jsmith@agonian-kappa.org), the AgoForward account will forward the email to your existing account at jsmith@aol.com. You can check your AOL mail as you normally would have and you will see the new message.

7. When you change ISP's, move from a job or change your name, just fill out the form on the web site with the changed information. In the comments field, please indicate if this is a modification of an existing address or if it should replace an existing address (for instance if your last name changed, you would want to replace an existing email address (maidenname@agonian-kappa.org) with your new address (marriedname@agonian-kappa.org). You can keep your Maiden Name email for a while, but it is probably best to eventually cancel this so you don't have two email addresses at AgoForward.
